A series inspired by Svetlana Alexievich's book, The Unwomanly Face of War(1983). Soviet women recall their wartime lives in these epic first-person accounts, all of whom have been absent from the official Soviet narratives.
They completed their missions, returned to their unrecognizable hometowns, and the vast country remained as silent as a swamp. Those unrecognized female soldiers, ignored by the nation, resented by the enemy, forgotten by their offspring, and even avoided by their male counterparts after leaving the battlefield, the women who had defended the nation became living ghosts.
