The King Bows The King Kills

2024
Graphic Book
A foldable art book demonstrating how all the violence and tranny happened in an independent space isolating from everyday life in an authoritarian society.

Editorial series of Herta Müller's poetry in her essay, Der König verneigt sich und tötet ("The King Bows and Kills")(2003).

In the feather house resides a rooster,

In the leaf house, the avenue.

A hare dwells in the fur house,

In the water budget, a lake.

In the corner house, the patrol

Pushes someone off the balcony there,

Over the elderberry,

Then it was again suicide.

In the paper house resides the statement,

In the hair knot lives a lady.

I used a maze-like layout, folding it counterclockwise into a palm-sized book. The progression forces readers to witness the cruelty and oppression of the “king” until all images unfold into a large, flat panorama, revealing the full extent of the authoritarian figure.
