A Thousand Plateaus

2025A Thousand Plateaus (2025) exists in two forms: an accordion artist book of fourteen panels in charcoal and pencil on rice paper, and a room-scale installation of suspended rice paper, reed, wire, and stone. Two speakers at opposite ends emit looping, arhythmic sound; as viewers move through the space, they mix the sound with their own position. The work presents a continuous landscape whose horizon lines connect seamlessly across all panels. This landscape functions as a model of looking: a surface onto which private and public memory are projected, where personal and collective borders dissolve. What holds it together is a horizon — a line that exists only semantically, that cannot be approached or reached.
